Thank you for posting this. I have really been thinking about adoption lately and my reservations about it. I heard the speaker and writer and psychologist Robert Ackerman this week who was also adopted. I feel like I am supposed to be hearing something...
Thank you for your comment on my post. What did you begin taking the B6, Mucinex, and antibiotics for? What is specifically for mucus? I'd love to hear more about the endo diet. Would you mind telling me about that book? You can email me at jeremiahtwentynineleven@gmail.com :)

On Suffering
"Sorrow, suffering, is but a kiss of Jesus - a sign that you have come so close to Jesus that He can kiss you...So let us be happy when Jesus stoops down to kiss us. I hope we are close enough that He can do it." Blessed Teresa of Calcutta
May 2006: Negative test - will I EVER get pregnant?
October 2006: Pregnant!
November 24, 2006: Lose baby Michael at 6 weeks.
January 2007: Visit Dr. #1 to discuss concern I may have low progesterone.
February - April 2007: Day 3 and P+7 tests.
May 2007: Luteaul Phase Defect. Start Prometrium. Dr. pushes Clomid (better ovulation = better post-peak hormones) but we decide to try just progesterone support first.
August 2007: Decide we may want to start Clomid, but would like to try a new doctor. Dr. #1 recommends three colleagues that work at big area IVF clinic - no thanks! Begin learning Creighton method.
Fall 2007: Find out about Dr. #2, a 4th year resident at big Catholic university hospital in area. Studied under Hilgers for a summer. Visit Dr. #2 who orders SA and HSG.
December 2007: Results normal! Dr. wants to do more NAPRO-like tests, but not supported by supervisor. Told that even though we are at Catholic university hospital, doctors are not supportive of Catholic approach to IF. Dr. #2 makes a call to Dr. #3 whose area pro-life practice is not accepting new patients. Dr. #3 agrees to take us.
February 2008: See Dr. #3. Orders month-long saliva hormone profile. One week later find out we're pregnant!
March 2008: See heartbeat!
April 2008: Start bleeding, ultrasound shows no heartbeat.
April 15, 2008: Lose baby Gabriel at 12 weeks.
May 2008 - Follow-up appointment. Dr. says we need to wait for 3 m/c to have testing done. Recommends I start taking a baby aspirin per day because the second most common cause of m/c (after genetic defects) is blood-clotting disorders.
August 2008: Time to do that hormone profile that we were supposed to do in March.
October 2008: Follow-up appointment. Profile showed estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels all super high. Dr. recommends changes in diet and supplements to decrease estrogen levels in hopes that all levels will decrease. Begin to make changes, but also decide that Dr. #3 doesn't know enough about IF or m/c. Time to go NAPRO.
November 2008: First visit with Dr. #4. Orders month-long blood hormone profile, m/c panel, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and selective HSG.
November-December 2008: Testing, testing
January 2009: Surgery finds partially blocked tube and stage II-III endo which is removed.
February 2009: Follow up appointment. Tests revealed that hormones are out of whack, but in a different pattern than salivia profile had suggesteed. Also diagnosed with MTHFR-C hetero, a blood-clotting disorder. Natural Killer cells slightly high. Start treatment of letrozole, Vit. B-6, prenatal vits, Mucinex, amoxicillin, and progesterone supp. Continue taking baby aspirin even though Dr. says it is not necessary for MTHFR hetero.
May 2009: Pregnant!
July 10, 2009: Lose baby Hope at 8 weeks. Decide to have a D&C because of family beach trip the following week.
August-September 2009: Light spotting and major abdominal pain during what should be my period. Suspect Asherman's Syndrome.
September 2009: Surgery to clear any scar tissue from D&C. Decide to send in paperwork to see Dr. #5 who specializes in recurrent m/c.
October 2009: Break cycle. Ultrasound series to evaluate ovulation.
October 31, 2009: About to ovulate - forget the break!
November 20, 2009: Pregnant! Dr. #5's office calls to schedule appointment for Dec. Tell them I'm pregnant. Dr. says to get to the office STAT because December will be too late based on my records.
November 23, 2009: See Dr. #5. Evaluate blood-flow to uterus, get our first look at gestational sac, lots of bloodwork, physical, and consult with Dr. Begin treatment of Lovenox, baby aspirin, Metanx or Folgard, prometrium, and prednisone.
December 2009: Bloodwork shows elevated NK cells, MTHFR C-hetero, PAI-1 4G/5G homo, and very low hormone levels. Add estrogen support and PIO shots.
January - April 2010 - gradually wean off of estrogen, progesterone, and prednisone.
June 2010: Switch from Lovenox to Heparin in preparation for birth.
July 2010: Baby Philip is born at 39 weeks!
July-September 2010: Continue Lovenox for 6 more weeks. Rejoice!
